The Beijing Golf Club is situated in Greater Vancouver’s Suli neighbourhood. More of a memorial and symbol, Peace Arch Provincial Park is called PeaceArchProvincialPark. On the US-Canada border, this park is situated at the southern terminus of Highway 99. It is made up of PeaceArchStatePark in Washington State in the south and PeaceArchProvincialPark in Canada. The border line and the renowned PeaceArch, a representation of the goodwill between the United States and Canada, are located in the centre. The Treaty of Ghent, which the United States and the United Kingdom signed in 1814, was celebrated with the construction of the Peace Arch on its anniversary. The arch was finished in 1921 as a representation of peace. The arch is a 30-meter-high structure in Greek design. Brethren Dwelling Together in Unity (Brethren Unite) is written on the lintel on the Canadian side, and Children of a Common Mother (Children of the same mother) is written on the lintel on the American side. These are two powerful phrases that express the aspiration of all peace-loving people. As the inscription on the east side of the door reads: “May These Gates Never Close,” the more than 6,000 kilometres of the US-Canada border under the arch today are a long undefended border line.
